Move Over Martha Stewart...

Robyn, Lindsey and Brianne proved that Martha Stewart is nothing and they can throw the most amazing Baby Shower of all time. I can't thank them enough for their endless preparations, and the most amazing food and decorations. It was more then I could ever imagine, and I can't wait to duplicate it for all of my sisters and maybe even my brother. Unfortunatly I didn't get enough pictures, but I will write all of my thoughts and memories in the cutest shower scrapbook I have ever seen. Thank you for making me and baby girl feel like princesses, I love you each SO much!

hello family! me, kate, and lauren are sitting in an internet cafe in florence and i just wanted to say hi! italy is amazing. we decided to ditch out on venice though, so tomorrow we are headed to cinque terre! it is supposedly amazing, lots of beach lounging and hiking. sounds like a good time eh? i guess skipping venice gives me a reason to come back to italy though! well i cant wait to come home and see you all! and right after i get back well have a new addition to the family! so exciting. hope the weather is good for me. love you! ciao! spaghetti! gelato!

less than two weeks!

well amy and i are here in the centre... with 2 other students. it is so empty! we were lucky to be able to sleep here, they didnt want us at the airport or something. our taxi is coming at 4 in the morning and we will be off to amsterdam! i am praying it wont be too cold. we will be there til monday when we fly to rome then travel around and fly back to london on the 30th. i will be waiting at the airport with multiple (very heavy) bags on may 1st at 6:33 pm. i expect to see you all there! and i really really really really hope that no one has gone through my other suitcase because it has all the presents for you guys in it and i dont want you to see them before i give them to you. so please, really honestly, PLEASE, dont look in it! lindsey, that means you...

We Have a "Birth" Day!!

Well...here I am at 9 months, I can't even believe its here. One minute I was sharing the news with everyone, and now I am making all of the final preparations for this little girl to make her debut into the world!

I feel extremely blessed that I have had such a great pregnancy (so far;), and that things have gone well. To catch you up to speed if you are not aware of the one dilemma I have faced, I'll help you out. When I went in for my first appt. they noticed the I might have a cyst and asked that I come back for a full ultrasound. When I went back at 12 weeks they diagnosed it as a uterine fibroid and said they would keep a watch on it. At my 20 week ultrasound they measured it only to find that it was the size of an orange, which is very big for a fibroid and blocking the birth canal. Fibroids are actually really common, but they usually form on the sides of the uterus, not at the bottom. So, my doctor explained then that there was 1. a chance the baby would not be able to turn out of her breech position and 2. that she would not be able to drop below the fibroid to be born, if she did turn out of the position. The only option in these 2 scenarios was of course a c-section. While I hoped to be able to have that "perfect" birth story, I know what is supposed to happen will. I feel so grateful that I live in a time where there are options for patients like me who have these risky situations. Fast forward to 33 weeks and my appt. little baby girl turned around! She wasn't breech and the possibility of no c-section was re-born. But now today at about 36 weeks I had one last full ultrasound where everything could be evaluated. We figured she was just trying to be a good girl for doctor and she turned back to her breech postion. The doctor feels that the size of the fibroid is keeping her from staying in that position. After doing an exam, it became apparent that the fibroid is very much in the way and a c-section is the only option. After reviewing ultrasound results and dates ect. it looks like this little girl will be in my arms on May 8th around 9:30am. I am so excited, scared, anxious and a million other things. They weren't able to get any pics of her today because her head faces downs, so we can only see the back of her head. But ultrasound measurements show she is currently weighing in at 6 lbs 6oz. So I plan to eat a lot of icecream over the next few weeks to keep her fattening up! It is amazing already how strong her little spirit is, I am so excited for her to be here.

Here are some pics from my ward shower that these cute ladies threw for me. It was so much fun! The poopy diaper has a melted candy bar in it, we had 11 of those to guess, I think I got one of the worst scores!

Well my much dreaded 50^th birthday has now come and gone…and it was absolutely perfect. So very perfect! I just want to thank each of you for your part in making it perfect! As much as I HATE surprise parties (I like giving them) I thank you for all of your hard work in throwing what was for me the perfect almost surprise party. Thank you for all of your hard work…it was perfect. You had all of my favorite foods (including the cheesecake which was really Dad’s favorite) and all of my favorite people. It was really a wonderful party and I thank each of you. Thank you also for your part in making it possible for me to go on the perfect trip. Thank you Karilyn for not having the baby and the dinners, thank you Lindsey for babysitting!?! Taylor and Abby, thank you Brianne for not being mad that I missed your birthday Again!, and thank you Taylor for helping out with Abby and not giving Lindsey too hard of time, and thank you Kristen for showing us such a wonderful time in London (you are a great tour guide). It was an amazing trip, I loved every minute of it thank you Randy for making it all possible! But the best part was coming home to such a wonderful family that I love so much. Turning 50 is kind of hard but it comes with the great blessing of watching your children grow up and become such amazing adults. It comes with the joy of that first grandchild and the hope of more to follow. It comes with being able to look back over the last 50 years…the good times and hard times, the mistakes (and boy have there been a lot), the trials, and the many, many happy times and being so grateful for the life that I have lived. So thank you, thank you, thank you for the perfect birthday and here’s to the next fifty years!!

A Summer Preview

What is this?? A BBQ?!?! People outside and seemingly enjoying it? Scott and Kari were nice enough to pull the grill out, Taylor, Abby and I broke in their yard, and we all welcomed the warm temperatures to Utah. They probably won't stay, but for now it is better then the snowy weather we have been having! I hope the bambina enjoyed her first whiffs of steak on the grill!

tate britain

i just had to post about this because i loved it so much. so yesterday i wandered over to the tate britain. it is a museum by the thames which features only british artists from the 1500's on. it is AMAZING. not that many people go there, and im not sure why. but, while i was there, i found my favorite painting. im not a huge art person, but i absolutely love this painting. i had to buy a print of it to put in my room. here it is, its called 'carnation, lily, lily, rose' by john singer sargent.

it would look adorable in a little girls room :)

cabinet war rooms

saturday we decided to go to the cabinet war rooms museum. it is the secret underground location of the WWII operations ran by churchill and his cabinet. for the most part the rooms have not been touched since the day the war ended. in the room where they would track germany's military movements, the people working heard about the end of the war, tidied up their desks, and went home. nothing has been moved since then! it was a really neat museum.

this is where the cabinet would meet, the big chair below the map was churchill's.

this is the room where most of the information would come from. all the different colored phones would connect to different lines, some of them were "scrambler" phones and one connected to churchill directly. this is also the room with the untouched desks.

oh, i met somebody while we were there too :) i promise he doesnt look as waxy in person...

okay, the title is supposed to be the olympic theme song. just sing it in your head. yesterday was the olympic torch relay through london! we were lucky enough to find out that it was running from notting hill gate to queensway, that is right down our street! so we ran out our door and down the street to watch it. it was crazy, the bbc said that they stationed 2,000 bobbies to man the streets! bobbies are cops, for you non brits. we saw a couple protestors and some how we ended up with a "free tibet" flag. here are some pictures from our crazy adventure. oh ya, and it SNOWED in london. and not just snowed like its falling from the sky, snowed like its sticking to the cars. here we are waiting for the torch to come!

notting hill

so, pretty much i live in the coolest area of london EVER. over the weekend we decied to do something adventuring around our neighborhood and this is what we did!

this is me at "the travel bookshop" from the movie 'notting hill'. it is the cutest little bookstore and i bought a kids book about london.

and here we are with our cupcakes from the store on portobello named hummingbird. it is the best cupcake i have ever had in my entire life!
