I am so excited to once again attend the Granite 4th (3rd) of July Activities. I can't believe that we have missed it the last 2 years and that Kadence has never been. The activities begin with breakfast at 8:30ish and the parade at 10:00. The carnival follows the parade and goes until 1:00. I think that I will try to have a light lunch following the activities.
Thank you Kristen for the "how to download pictures" tutorial. If you could show me about 5 more times I might get it. Oops it didn't work. I had to get Dad's help. At least I understand how to plug in the camera. These are my July incentives forthe Young Women. Kristen told me that they don't read the sayings and could really care less but I choose to believe that they like them. The soccer balls were for June. When you have a calling in the YW that does not require that you go to camp or youth conference you have to do something.
According to the internet, you can all expect to see something looking like this running around in the near future! I am not sure how it got those blue eyes, but Mom can keep on hoping!
Coming to this earth to partake of our Heavenly Father's plan, to follow the Savior must have been so important to Cami that even though she would endure great trials and tribulations and have to leave so early and leave her husband and two young sons she wanted to come. She was such a beautiful girl. It is amazing how much in life and in death Cami and Ashley were alike. I am sure that the reunion with these two sisters made the angles weep. The Calls have taught us all so many great lessons. Through it all they have never lost faith and hope. I cannot as a mother even imagine, as Marilyn said in her talk, having to explain to my daughter how she would die. What remarkable people, what great faith.
K always surprises me when she can recite books or songs back to me. She also surprised me when she agreed to capture a couple on camera. The first is the Nursery Rhyme: "There was a little girl that had a little curl right in the middle of her forhead, when she was good she was very very good and when she was bad she was horrid." Somewhat similar to a little blond girl I know:)
This is "I am a Child of God" of course. It always makes me smile and yesterday in the car when Avery was crying she started singing it to her, so sweet.
Tried this salad recipe recently and loved it. A great salad to take to parties and share with a lot of people. It is a lot of ingredients and takes some time to make but really worth it. I cooked 3 chicken breasts in the crock pot for about 4 hours with some teriyaki sauce to get my 2 cups of cooked chicken and that worked great.
Spinach Chicken and Pasta Salad with Teriyaki Vinaigrette
*Plan Ahead: the pasta needs to marinate in the dressing for at least an hour.*
Dressing: 1 cup canola oil
1/3 – 2/3 cup bottled teriyaki sauce (I used 1/3 cup but you may want to add more depending on your taste)
1/3 cup rice vinegar
1/3 cup cider vinegar
6 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Salad: 16 oz. bow tie pasta, cooked al dente, drained and cooled
1 bag fresh spinach (9 – 10 oz)
6 oz. craisins
2 (11 oz.) cans mandarin oranges, drained
1 (8 oz.) can water chestnuts, drained and slivered
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
4 green onions, thinly sliced (white and green parts)
1/4 cup sesame seeds, toasted
6 oz. honey roasted peanuts
2 cups cooked chicken, tossed with 2-3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
In a blender, combine all the dressing ingredients and blend until well combined and smooth. Mix about 1 cup of the dressing with the cooked pasta in a large bowl and marinate for at least one hour (Judy has left this step out many times with still great results). Combine the remaining salad ingredients in a large bowl. Just before serving, add pasta and toss. Add dressing to taste and toss. Serve immediately.
I have to give credit to Kristen for all of these wonderful pictures of Kadence and Avery. This picture truly captures how beautiful Kadence is, what it doesn't capture is how hard it is to get her to sit still long enough to take the picture!!
Our sweet, beautiful Baby Avery is 2 weeks old. Already is seems like time is going by so quickly. I am sure that I heard Dr Jeff say that she is just perfect! Of course I already knew that!!
We celebrated "Pa Randy's" birthday in Midway with a cake from the Midway Corner Bakery! What could be better then that! Everyone was able to come and Kadence was ready to help blowout the candles.
One of the great blessing that I got from the birth of baby Avery was all of the extra time that I got to spend with Kadence. I love you Kadence, you are just pure joy! What a sweet, sweet little girl. You are just happiness and sunshine everyday! I love how she bosses everyone including "Pa" and Taylor around and everyone does just what she wants. When she looks at you with her big eyes and says "please" your heart melts. When she says "come on" you come. When she yells out the window "I love you Abby." No one else could get away with calling me "Ma" except for Kadence! Being a Grandma really is the best.
Just want to thank everyone for your help in celebrating Grandma B's 80th birthday. I know that it meant a lot to her. Thanks for coming to the "condo celebration" and I hope that you enjoyed the birthday dinner. It was a busy day and I really appreciate all of your support!
I can't believe that it has been 4 years since high school graduation but it has and now you have graduated from BYU!Congratulations Kristen! We love and are so very proud of you! I think that you had a lot of great experiences and have made great life long friends. You have worked really hard, maintained excellent grades and even kept your scholarship - you have a lot to be proud of. So excited to have you home this summer, excited to see where your next vacation will be and excited to have you teach us all there is to know about sunscreen and sun damage! LOVE YOU
Okay, I am going to revive the blog. Why...because Brianne and Chandler are moving and I think that it is fun to keep in touch through the blog. I know that I am listed as a contributor so I think that I need to start contributing. Which means that I have a few things to learn. The pictures are the frustrating part because Karilyn has some, Kristen has some, and Dad has some and I never know where they are. So my summer goal is to learn how to find the pictures, how to post video, and so on. Wish me well!! It will not be long before Kadence can teach me how:) I am going to get "caught up" on a few recent events so I apologize for a lot of entries and remember I am still learning!
The newest addition to the Moore Family is our sweet little Avery Robyn. Avery was born May 28th weighed 7.2 and was 21 inches long. Thank you Karilyn and Scott for another beautiful granddaughter. Avery is such a sweetheart and it is so fun to see big sister Kadence dotting over her and telling us how cute she is. She looks a lot like Kadence but already we can see that she has her own sweet little look. It us hard to believe that we have two beautiful grandchildren and 1 more on the way...due in January...we are excited Lindsey and Tyler! Our family just keeps on growing in the best ways!
