Thanksgiving

"In all things give thanks..."

Thanksgiving went by way to quickly for me. I was and am still not prepared for the Christmas holiday, even though I love Christmas. I feel overwhelmed this year with gratitude to a loving and very gracious Father in Heaven. Thanks for a wonderful family, shelter over my head, delicious food to eat and a beautiful little girl that makes everyone smile. A few pictures from a wonderful Thanksgiving.

spiritual thought of the day

Saturday, November 15, 2008

yesterday me and two girls from my major made the trip to salt lake to see the "Body Worlds" exhibit at the salt lake library. it was soooooo cool. when people die they can choose to donate their bodies to science, and this is one of the ways they use it. they have so many different areas and you learn so much about the human body. this is what they look like, its kind of weird...

they are real human bodies that they preserve so you can see the different muscles, nerves, and organs in your body. one of my favorite parts was about the lungs. they had a set of healthy lungs and a set of smoker lungs... wow. seeing that will be reason enough to make someone quit. they had another part where they had (again kind of weird) baby fetuses ranging from barely formed to full term. it was so interesting to see this little tiny thing, 6 weeks old, and realize it has a heart. it was so neat.

anyway, youre probably wondering how this is a spiritual thought? let me explain. seeing that exhibit and the all the nerves and veins and how this organ works with this organ... its just impossible that it was all created "by chance". i truly beleive the human body is a masterpiece of work, God's masterpiece. there is no way to understand how different things in the body work and say that it all happened from a big bang. God really created every body and every body is an amazing masterpiece. thinking about this then led me to remember 1 corinthians 6:19 which reads, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"

i would definitely recommend going to the exhibit. it is awesome and brought me such a respect for this amazing gift that God has given me. (see i tied it all together nicely, didnt i?)

Happy Birthday to Kristen!

A very Happy Half-Birthday to You!

Can you believe that Little K is 6 mo. old today! I know...neither can I. It seems like just yesterday I held her for the very first time.

Now she is growing and changing every day.

She sits up like a champ and has started leaning forward to move onto all fours thinking she is going to just crawl away. She loves to eat her rice and baby food and has been patient with her Mom while she hasn't been very consistent and tries to make all her food homemade. She is the most easy going baby, which she definatly gets from her Dad because we all know there isn't an ounce of that in me. I have had her at a few different places where people always comment on how good she is being. Most recent was last week when Little K really was pretty sick and as I sat in a chair next to the Doctor with her on my lap while he looked over her blood work he said he couldn't believe how smily and happy she was based on her test results, but I could...it didn't surprise me a bit. She loves to be played with and will giggle and giggle and melt anyone's heart.

Well she is 6 mo. old officially so everytime my Mom reminds me of that I can't scoot around it. Thanks sweet girl for making us all so happy. Love you.

PS. If you feel like giving out a present in return you are more than welcome to sleep through the night!

proud to be an american

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

alright, so maybe the presidential election didnt quite turn out the way we hoped it would. but on this day after the election i must say, i am proud to be an american for many reasons. i will list a couple and feel free to add your own reasons why youre proud to be from this wonderful country...
1. we have a president-elect that has the potential to inspire good things in this country and around the world. people are feeling positive about this election so i will too.
2. i got to vote for the first time and feel very blessed to be a part of a democratic country. there are people all over the world that would love the chance to vote. i feel very lucky!
3. mccain gave a wonderful and beautiful speech as he conceded the race. i think he is a very respectable guy and i think he promoted a great message of unity.
4. george bush was not the greatest president this country has ever seen, but i believe hes a good guy and i think its time for him to enjoy life again.

you dont have to agree with everything i say and maybe you think im wrong, but im feeling optimistic about the future!
