our field trip on wednesday was to stratford-upon-avon, birthplace and burial site of the one and only william shakespeare! im not a huge english person, but i have to admit, it was pretty cool being there knowing that william shakespeare had lived there! our first stop was at anne hathaway's cottage. anne hathaway was shakespeare's wife and the cottage is where she lived until they were married. we were very disappointed to get there and see scaffolding on the building! but it was still gorgeous and the weather was great!

our next stop was the birthplace of shakespeare. it really is nothing special, but at the same time it is so weird to think about a mom giving birth to a little boy to have that baby grow up to be shakespeare!! i mean she had no idea at the time.

after that we walked around the streets for a little bit, they were really cute. then we went to the holy trinity church, which is where shakespeare was christened and buried. i have seen his grave in so many pictures and talked about it in so many classes that it was really cool to actually see it in person! this is kindof an awkward picture of me, but oh well. his grave says, good friend for jesus sake forbeare, to dig the dust enclosed here. blessed be the man that spares these stones, and cursed be he that moves my bones. deep shakespeare...deep.
after that we went to see henry VI and the courtyard theatre. it was fun to see a shakespeare play in stratford, but lets be honest... henry VI?? ya, every single student was asleep for at least part of that play. the day was really fun and im happy i got to go there. here are some more fun pictures from the day!
the sign on this door says "very low door". people back then were super short or something. brianne you wouldve fit in well :)
and this last picture is pretty much how we role. we like to take awkward pictures...

Oh how crazy, considering that we went and saw "A Midsummernights Dream" last night! I loved Stratford, and I totally remember that small door, I think Dad had a hard time getting through it. We might have a special Blog treat for you tomorrow, I am working on it. I can't believe Brianne has her own blog, I feel betrayed...is it because we only have one picture from their wedding on here ;) Love ya!
i know i couldnt believe it either! and she had the nerve to not tell any of us! ba hum bug... ohh a blog treat?? that makes me excited! have a good sunday!
You all are starting to look so British. Do you even speak with accents now? And sit for tea every day?! I hear that Harry is finally back in England, so I guess your schedule just filled up for the next couple of days.
What Brianne has a blog...I am always the last to know!!! In honor of you being in England and in honor of Shakespeare himself we did as Karilyn said went to a play Friday night and all I can say is that at times it was really confusing but in the end it was great and very well done and yes I did "get it!"
