fancy a walk in the countryside?

why yes, yes i do. so our first saturday here in london, clear back in january, the president of the hyde park stake told us that when it got warmer he would take us on a countryside walk. well, time flies and yesterday was our big walk! we took the train to kent and met up with the president there. we ventured off on our journey, walking along roads and climbing through grasslands and forests. i was expecting like a hike, you know, utah-style. that is not quite what it was, there are definitely no mountains in england. but the scenery was absolutely amazing! green hills, old manor houses, vine-covered trees, and little rivers. we walked for a little bit before stopping at an old castle and having lunch there. after that we kept walking until we stopped at an old country style store, called hop shop, and bought frozen fruit and dairy ice cream. we finished our walk and ended up back at the train station. here are some pictures from it, they dont really do justice but i still thought some of them were pretty.this is the "castle" where we ate lunch. it was built around 1100 so i guess it has a right to be mostly gone.here is a gorgeous shot of the green hills.here is one of the river and the sheep. baaaaaaa. this picture is probably my favorite.

so yes, the walk was absolutely amazing!!

What a great stake president (something Steve Miles would have done!) You are so lucky! What a beautiful countryside. I love it!
